The main character of the New Year is Santa Claus. On a holiday, anyone will like the idea of trying on this fabulous character's headdress. If you haven't bought such a hat in advance, it doesn't matter. It is very easy to do it yourself.
It is necessary
- a piece of red cloth, preferably velvety, plush or shiny;
- a piece of white cloth or faux fur;
- pins;
- needle, thread and scissors;
- decorative elements: beads, beads, snowflakes, etc. (optional).
Instructions
Step 1
Take a red fabric and cut out a triangle from it with a height of 30 to 50 cm (depending on the size of the finished product), with a base width of the circumference of the head of a potential Santa Claus plus 2-3 centimeters (seam allowance). Then sew it in a cone shape and turn it inside out.
Step 2
Next, we trim the edges of the cap with faux fur or white fabric. Cut a strip that is as long as your head circumference plus a 2 to 3 cm allowance and about 8 centimeters wide. Sew the resulting tape into a ring so that its diameter is equal to the diameter of the bottom of the red blank. Then gently fold about 1 centimeter of fabric / fur towards the inside. For convenience, it is better to use pins. This is necessary so that the cut is not visible. Then attach the white ring to the red blank so that you get an imitation of a white lapel about 4 centimeters wide. Wrap the rest of the fabric / fur inside the hat. Fix the entire structure with pins, otherwise it will not work to keep it straight during sewing. The edge of the white fabric / fur does not need to be tucked inside. Then sew the white lapel with neat stitches to the red base. The best result will be achieved with faux fur - small stitches in it will not be noticeable at all. Remember to remove the pins after you sew the elements.
Step 3
There should be a white pom-pom at the tip of the cap. In the event that you used a cloth, you can take a small piece, roll it into a ball and tighten it into a small piece of white cloth like a bag, pulling the edges with a thread, and then sew it to the end of the cap so that the edges do not stick out. If you used artificial fur, then everything is easier - gather a small piece of fur on a thread and sew it on.
Step 4
To make Santa Claus's hat more festive and elegant, you can decorate it. For example, to sew on beads or beads, with the proper skill, you can even embroider snowflakes with them. An easier and faster option is to stick snowflakes from foil or shiny silver film. It is recommended to use silver and white colors to decorate the hat, since they look organically in such a situation. Other color schemes may evoke associations with ethnic costumes, but not with the popular hero of children's fairy tales.
