Before you start making the mask, take a look at what Santa Claus is famous for. That's right, a big red nose and a beard with a mustache! Yes, don't forget about thick eyebrows and a red hat. Nature has not endowed everyone with a big, potato-like nose. Therefore, it, like everything else, will need to be made independently. This New Year's mask will be designed for a person of any gender, so it is good and comfortable. How to make a mask?
It is necessary
- -1 sheet of paper from a newspaper;
- -1 sheet of A4 white xerox paper;
- - wallpaper glue and a jar;
- - white fur with short pile 1 meter / 5 cm;
- - white fur with long pile 40cm / 40cm;
- - red hat;
- - gouache paints and a brush;
- - quick-drying colorless varnish and brush;
- - a ball from a rattle;
- - knitted elastic band 25 cm / 0.5 cm;
- - awl and scissors;
- - 3 saucers;
- - white threads with a needle;
- - tinsel.
Instructions
Step 1
Start by making a papier-mâché nose. To do this, use a small plastic ball from a baby rattle, which will serve as a blank. Then tear a newspaper the size of a fingernail into a plate into small pieces, a little more. In another vessel, pick up the same white xerox paper or writing paper. Place some wallpaper glue into a separate jar. Place a saucer of water next to it.
Step 2
Now soak newspaper pieces in water and stick on the nose piece, that is, on one half of the plastic ball. After finishing one layer, proceed to the second. Only it will be made of white paper. Then moisten the paper only in wallpaper glue. And also alternate layers: newspaper and white. After making a total of six layers, the last of which will be white, finish with this and put the product in a warm place close to the radiator to dry. The next day, the nose will be ready for staining. In the meantime, work on your hat and beard.
Step 3
Sew a red cap around the edge with white short-piled fur. Also decorate the hat with shiny frost and fur pom-pom. Next, sew to it from ear to ear a knitted elastic band with a width of 0.5 cm, sagging to the level of the upper lip. A beard and nose structure will be attached to it. At the top, at the level of the eyebrows, sew thick strips of fur with a long white pile to the edge of the hat so that they cover the real eyebrows well, but do not close the eyes.
Step 4
Take a 3 cm wide white fur with a long pile and sew it along the entire length of the elastic, tucking and hemming from the inside. This will be part of the beard and mustache. You can highlight the mustache with a separate piece of fur sewn over this fur to make it stand out. Now sew on this strip the fur of the same length as your grandfather's beard: 20-25 cm. Just do not forget to leave a small hole at the level of the mouth so that Santa Claus's lips are visible.
Step 5
Paint your grandfather's nose red with gouache paints. So that it does not get dirty, and the mask would last a long time, paint it with a transparent quick-drying varnish. When the nose is dry, sew it to the elastic in the middle. Try on a mask. In the place where the nostrils are, make small holes with an awl so that it is convenient to breathe in the mask. Before the holiday, smear your cheeks with red blush - the upper part of the cheeks under the eyes will be open. Now this mask can be used by anyone, regardless of gender and age. And a merry New Year is guaranteed!
