In winter, Santa Claus and Santa Claus bring gifts to children - this is their similarity. Another similarity is that both of them prefer red in their clothes, although Santa Claus can afford white, blue, blue and even yellow fur coats. Then the differences begin.
Instructions
Step 1
Santa Claus comes to the children for the New Year's holiday, and if he gets to the Christmas tree, he also conducts part of the event. Santa Claus is a Christmas character. Santa Claus's functions are limited to giving gifts. He can also put the child on his lap, listen to his dreams and promise their fulfillment next year, if the child fulfills a number of obligations. Santa Claus is not so mercantile and gives gifts to everyone indiscriminately. Santa Claus puts gifts in a shoe, stocking, lowers them into the chimney, while Santa Claus either puts them under the tree or hands them personally.
Step 2
Santa Claus is incomparably older and has a real historical person as a prototype - Nicholas of Mirlikisky. Santa Claus began his career in the 17th century in Holland. Then his name was Sinterklaas - Saint Nicholas. By the way, among Russians, Saint Nicholas the Pleasant is also one of the most revered saints, but he is not going to give gifts either for Christmas or New Year, and he never planned. With the discovery of America, the Dutch transferred the traditions of celebrating Christmas, namely, the gift activity of Santa Claus - this is how the name began to be pronounced in the English transcription, to the newly formed city of New Amsterdam, later - New York. From there Saint Nicholas returned to Europe under a new name.
Step 3
Unlike Santa Claus - a real historical person, Santa Claus is a folklore character and, moreover, a collective character. Literary Frosts - Frost Red Nose Nekrasov, Moroz Ivanovich Odoevsky, Moroz Ostrovsky are not related to the celebration of the New Year. The images of Frost in literature are, rather, the comprehension of pagan deities.
Step 4
Russian and, subsequently, Soviet children for a long time lived without a fabulous character bringing gifts. The attempt of the Russian pre-revolutionary intelligentsia to attract foreign "Christmas frosts" did not find a response among the broad masses, and gifts to pre-revolutionary children simply appeared under the Christmas tree. Until 1937, Soviet children did not celebrate either Christmas or New Year. In the Soviet Union, there was a ban on the Christmas holidays, and for one and the New Year, which was one of the not the most successful ways to inculcate atheism.
Step 5
By the end of the 30s, the celebration of the New Year was on a par with the elimination of "excesses", and in 1937 an all-Union Christmas tree was held. It was then that Father Frost first appeared with the Snow Maiden as the main guests and hosts of the holiday. Paradoxical as it sounds now, modern society owes the birth of Santa Claus to the father of all peoples - I. V. Stalin.
Step 6
And Santa Claus has a companion - the granddaughter of the Snow Maiden. Santa Claus also has a companion - Mrs. Santa Claus, who helps him to manage the household, but no one has ever seen her.
