In the winter of 2015, the Ministry of Labor presented the residents of Russia with a full-fledged winter vacation: the New Year celebration will last until January 11.
In accordance with Russian law, all days from January 1 to January 8 are holidays. If they coincide with the "legal weekend" (Saturday or Sunday), the day off is postponed to another date.
This year there were two days off for the holiday period - Saturday (January 3) and Sunday (January 4). In accordance with the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on the postponement of days off in 2015, one of these days off (Saturday) is postponed to Friday, January 9, and the second - to Monday, May 4. Thus, Saturday and Sunday 10 and 11 January will "join" the New Year holidays.
True, the right to rest until the 12th day does not apply to institutions working on a "six-day": on working Saturdays, the transfer of the day off from January 3 to January 9 is not made. Therefore, employees of such organizations will go to work already on the ninth and they will have a short post-holiday work week consisting of Friday and Saturday.
Russians are still not entitled to New Year's Eve days off: all December days, including the 31st, are officially working days. The only concession is that since the last day of December is a pre-holiday day, the working day should be reduced by an hour.
Only schoolchildren studying according to the traditional “quarter” system will have the opportunity to devote a few days to preparing for the New Year: their winter holidays will begin on December 29, and they will return to school when their parents are at work, on January 12. Schools that have chosen a trimester education system will work until December 30, their holidays will last only 10 days - from December 31 to January 9.
