  • - bottle
  • - wick
  • - wax or paraffin
  • - can

Instructions

Step 1

A handmade gift carries human warmth, a part of the one who presents it. This is original and their prices are not quantified in money. You can make such souvenirs from anything, from beads to beautiful snags, branches and bark. Look for materials around you. It remains only to choose what you like best. So, for example, original candlesticks can be made from tree bark. Take pieces of bark of the same thickness, it is better if their texture is pronounced. Make a frame from thick cardboard, for which you cut a strip of about 70 x 500 mm. Wrap the strip in two layers, while brushing them with glue.

Step 2

Steam the bark by holding it over the steam for about 10-15 minutes. After that, lay them on a flat wooden surface and cut off the sides with a sharp knife so that the individual pieces fit snugly together, and there are no gaps.

Step 3

Lubricate the cardboard frame with wood glue, put pieces of bark tightly on it. While they are hot, press them to the surface of the frame, tie them with a fairly soft wire.

Step 4

After the glue dries, trim the top and bottom edges of the bark on the bottle evenly. Then remove the cylinder from the bottle. Cut a circle of plywood about 5mm thick around the inside diameter of this cylinder.

Step 5

Place a jar approximately 20-30 mm high in the top of the cylinder. It can be made from tin. In order for it not to fall inside, you need to bend the sides by about 0.2-0.4 mm. Place a wick inside, which can be made from threads. Fill it with wax or molten paraffin. Inspect the candlestick again, use a knife to get rid of minor imperfections, if any. Fill the large gaps with pieces of bark. To prevent the candle from scratching the furniture, glue a piece of soft cloth to the bottom of the candle. The candlestick is ready.
