Christmas is considered one of the main holidays for Christians, along with Easter. Catholics celebrate it on December 25, Orthodox - on January 7. But despite the difference in calendars, the essence of the holiday is the same - the joy of the birth of the baby Jesus. This day is colored with a deep spiritual meaning, and it must be spent accordingly. Best of all - with family and friends.

It is necessary

  • - icons and icon lamp;
  • - decorations for the Christmas tree in the form of angels;
  • - kutia;
  • - nativity scene.

Instructions

Step 1

If you want to properly celebrate Christ's Christmas, you need to prepare for it in advance, as the Church teaches. The Nativity Fast begins on November 27, try to observe it. If you succeed, you will especially fully feel the joy of the holiday. It is not necessary to fast strictly; start with at least small restrictions. Moreover, the priests are allowed to eat fish during this fast. But most importantly, try not to allow anger, irritation, and bad thoughts into your soul.

Step 2

Already in the afternoon of January 6, when fasting ends, start preparing for the arrival of Christmas. From time immemorial, Christians have tried to create an atmosphere in the house that corresponds to a bright holiday. Clean your home to keep the house shining clean. If there are icons, put lamps in front of them, light them. Cover the table with a solemn tablecloth, serve beautifully. According to Russian tradition, the colors of Christmas are white and blue. It's good if the dishes are also of these shades.

Step 3

Surely you still have a Christmas tree, because not so long ago everyone celebrated the New Year. On Christmas Eve, the day before Christmas, decorate it with angel figurines and similar attributes. You can buy them or make yourself from gold foil. If you want to keep the tradition to the end, prepare a nativity scene.

Step 4

Prepare kutya - a dish made from shelled wheat. Soak the grains for several hours, then cook until tender, constantly adding water. Then add raisins, mashed poppy seeds, chopped and toasted nuts, melted honey, sunflower halva, a little boiling water and mix everything.

Step 5

When the first star appears in the sky, sit down to supper. Start your Christmas meal with kutya, this dish should also be placed with icons as a gift. It is believed that 12 dishes should be placed on the table. But the Church does not recommend eating too much. Christmas is primarily a feast for the spirit. In the evening, go to the All-night Prayer, it is similar to the Easter service, as it lasts a long time, ends after midnight.
