Ukraine celebrates Independence Day on August 24. It was on this day that the Declaration of Independence of the country was drawn up. This is a holiday that is important for every Ukrainian, celebrations are held in all cities and congratulations are heard.
The celebration of the twenty-first anniversary of independence will begin on August 23, on the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine. On this day, the State flags will be solemnly raised in Kiev, Sevastopol, regional and regional centers, as well as in other settlements.
An obligatory part of the holiday will be the address of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko to the residents of the country on Independence Square ("Maidan Nezalezhnosti"). It is here, as well as on Khreshchatyk, that part of the festive events will take place: concerts of military wind instruments, performances by popular performers, the All-Ukrainian parade of embroidered shirts (embroiderers), in which representatives of all regions in traditional national costumes will participate. In addition, festivals and flower contests, children's concerts, exhibitions and sales of works of folk artists and other events will be held.
An important part of the Independence Day of Ukraine will be the laying of flowers at the monuments and monuments of fighters for freedom and independence of Ukraine, outstanding statesmen. Measures were taken in advance to improve the burial places of the fighters for the country's independence, cultural heritage sites and monuments.
The country's leadership decided not to hold a military parade. The reason, most likely, was the high cost of this event. However, in the evening, guests and residents of Kiev will receive a military salute and festive fireworks.
Lviv was chosen as the venue for the international British festival of electronic music "Godskitchen". The festival will be solemnly opened on 23 August at 20:00 on the territory of the Arenya Lviv stadium and will last all night, until 24 August. Residents and guests of the city will be able to see the performance of foreign youth groups.
