Independence Day is celebrated in Vietnam on September 2, this is the country's main national holiday. On the way to freedom, the Vietnamese had to go through a long period of hardest trials, paying hundreds of thousands of lives for independence.

Liberation from the French and Japanese colonialists was not the last difficult chapter in the history of Vietnam. Civil war, the division of the country into North and South Vietnam, the invasion of the US army - the Vietnamese had to show miracles of heroism in order to defend their independence in a battle with a powerful enemy. The Americans were forced to leave Vietnam; from that time on, the united country became truly independent.
Vietnam gained independence not so long ago; many participants in the hostilities against the US army are still alive. That is why this holiday is so dear to every Vietnamese. Given the difficult legacy of the civil war, on this day it is customary to ask each other for forgiveness, an unacceptable bad attitude towards anyone. Vietnamese treat guests very warmly, including foreign ones, but this is especially evident on Independence Day. Interestingly, the population also treats the Americans well, the Vietnamese have no hatred for their former opponents. Russians are also very warmly greeted, the people of Vietnam remember the invaluable assistance that the Soviet Union provided to the country during the war years.
On Independence Day, commemorative and festive events are held throughout Vietnam. They remember those who gave their lives in the struggle for freedom, rejoice that the period of military disasters is far behind. Modern Vietnam is a dynamically developing country, the level of well-being of the population is slowly but steadily growing. And this is another reason for the Vietnamese to celebrate the main national holiday with joy. Demonstrations are held throughout the country, rallies, meetings, festivities are held, and amateur music and dance groups perform. After dark, the sky over the country is illuminated by flashes of festive fireworks.
