Instructions

Step 1

The first film festival "Mirror" took place in the homeland of Andrei Tarkovsky in the Ivanovo region in 2007 and was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of his birth. In memory of the mentor and friend, fellow students of Andrei Arsenievich organized the "Tarkovsky forever" program. Also, the audience was shown a retrospective of films with the participation of the People's Artist of the USSR Inna Churikova, who became the president of the festival. The first participants in the "Mirror" were films from India, France, Mexico, Germany, Iceland and many other countries. The audience award and the special prize of the President of the festival that year were won by the films of Russian directors.

Step 2

In 2008, the festival was timed to coincide with the centenary of Russian cinema. The program of out-of-competition screenings included Tarkovsky's legendary film - the historical drama Andrei Rublev, an epic story about the life of the icon painter Andrei, who took a vow of silence for fifteen years. The best feature film at the second film festival was the French musical Under the Roofs of Paris. And the prize "For Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema" was awarded to the Russian actor Alexei Petrenko, known for his roles in the films "The Barber of Siberia", "Cruel Romance", "Doctor Zhivago".

Step 3

Every year the film festival developed, covering more and more territories of the Ivanovo region. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, creative meetings of spectators with actors and directors began to be held in settlements near Ivanovo. In 2010, Zerkalo changed the president of the festival, and instead of Inna Churikova, director Pavel Lungin took over. The number of spectators attending the festival's events has grown to two tens of thousands of people.

Step 4

The sixth international film festival "Zerkalo" was held in late May - early June in Ivanovo, as well as in Plyos and Yuryevets. In particular, in Plyos, films were shown in the open air, on the banks of the Volga. Viewers were able to watch the Oscar-winning silent film "The Artist" and the drama "7 Days and Nights with Marilyn", filmed in memory of Marilyn Monroe. The jury members of the festival included representatives from France, Austria, Lithuania and Russia. The war drama "In the Fog", based on the story by Vasil Bykov and telling about the partisans of the Great Patriotic War, was presented at the international competition of feature films from our country.
