Annually on May 24, Slavic countries celebrate the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture. On this day, the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, who are the founders of Slavic writing, are revered. This is the only church-state holiday in our country. It has been celebrated in Russia since 1863.

The Day of Slavic Written Language and Culture in Moscow in 2012 was traditionally held on May 24. It began with a prayer service, which took place after the solemn divine service in the Kremlin's Assumption Cathedral and the completion of the procession to St. Basil's Cathedral on Red Square.
