Industry holidays are not as widely known as national holidays, but they mean a lot for workers in specific industries. In early September, employees of the most important industry for the country - the oil, gas and fuel industries - will celebrate their professional holiday.
The Day of the Oil, Gas and Fuel Industry Worker is traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday in September, in 2012 it falls on the second day. For the first time, the holiday appeared in Soviet times, the decision to establish it was made by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR as early as October 1, 1980. Since then, it has been a professional holiday for those who linked their lives with the difficult and responsible task of providing the country with fuel and energy resources. On September 2, it will be celebrated by geologists, drillers, builders, developers, transport workers, technologists, representatives of many other specialties employed in the industry.
On this solemn day, congratulations are heard from everywhere to the people who extract oil and gas, which are very necessary for the country, from underground storerooms. The most distinguished employees of the fuel and energy complex are awarded valuable gifts and prizes. Many employees who have worked in the oil, gas and fuel industry for at least 15 years are awarded the titles of "Honorary Oilman", "Honorary Worker of the Fuel and Energy Complex", "Honored Worker of the Oil and Gas Industry of the Russian Federation" with the presentation of the corresponding badges.
In honor of the holiday on September 2, various celebrations will take place. Local musical groups will perform at the festive concerts, and the capital's artists and musicians will also come to some cities. It will not do without festive banquets. After sunset, in many regions of the country, oil and gas workers will be able to admire the festive fireworks arranged in their honor.
It has already become traditional that on this day all workers and veterans of the industry are congratulated by the President of the Russian Federation.
