Evening of December 31. The Christmas tree is sparkling with lights, the TV pleases with old Soviet comedies, divine aromas are heard from the kitchen. And in a couple of hours, the first guest should appear on the doorstep. It's time to set the table. But first, this table must be festively decorated.

Step 1
Color scheme Start your table setting by choosing a color scheme. Traditionally, green, red, white, gold and silver colors are chosen for New Year's decoration. It is very important that each color "works" for the entire composition.

Tablecloth Lay the tablecloth. The tablecloth can be linen, silk, satin, jacquard, but not cotton. For a solemn feast, everyday textiles are not suitable. The tablecloth can be decorated with lace or elegant embroidery; the choice of its color depends on the shades of the dishes, decorations, napkins. When in doubt, go for a classic white tablecloth. She always looks smart and makes the perfect backdrop for other table setting.
Step 3
Napkins Place a napkin for each guest, for example, made of linen. You can design it in different ways: fold it in a fan, roll it up in the form of an origami figure, roll it into a tube and fasten it with a ribbon or ring, decorating it with a spruce twig. The color of the napkins depends on the selected shade of the tablecloth. Napkins can be made in the same color scheme, or they can contrast with the tablecloth.
Step 4
Dishes Having dealt with textiles, proceed to serving. Place elegant dishes, drinking glass (not necessarily crystal) for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, lay out the cutlery.

Decorations Decorate the table with New Year's compositions. Let it be bouquets of pine needles and flowers, put in a vase, or small compositions-wreaths of pine or spruce twigs, gilded cones, fruits, Christmas tree decorations and tinsel.
Step 6
Candles Don't forget about candles. Reflections of live fire in the glass of glasses and sparks of champagne create a truly New Year atmosphere at the table and a festive mood for everyone present. Just make sure that the candles are not dangerous. To do this, secure them to stable candlesticks and place them in the middle of the table. You can buy candles with decor (carved, decorated with drawings, etc.), or you can decorate them yourself with tinsel, spruce twigs, "rain".
