Youth Day in Russia is celebrated on May 27, it changed the Soviet floating date - the last Sunday of June. Not only Russia has stood apart from the International Youth Day (August 12) on its own occasion to talk about the affairs of young people. In Azerbaijan, it is celebrated on February 2, in Ukraine and Belarus - on June 30, in China - on May 4, etc.

Youth Day is an occasion not only for a holiday, but also for talking about problems
Youth Day is an occasion not only for a holiday, but also for talking about problems

In each country, the holiday is held with a special flavor. For example, in Turkey, it is even officially called the Day of Youth and Sports. On this day, mainly competitions, demonstration air shows, marathon races, scout rallies are held there. Although officially the holiday is politically motivated and glorifies the memory of the country's first president, Kemal Ataturk, for most citizens it is a reason to rejoice in the strength and beauty of the sons and daughters of their people. And what about parades and obligatory patriotic songs? Who is especially impressed on a good May day!

In Azerbaijan, the emphasis is placed on the participation of a new generation in the development of national and classical music, literature, fine arts, and the most worthy representatives of youth are awarded presidential prizes.

In South Africa, Youth Day can be called a holiday with tears in our eyes. Although it was added to the list of public holidays for the joyous occasion of the April 1994 general non-racial elections, the people of the country remember on June 16 the victims of the racist mass shooting of 1976. It was with this event that the destruction of apartheid began in the country.

In China, young people mostly gather on their own holiday, while adults hold meetings to celebrate the anniversary of the May 4th movement. In the spring of 1919, the young Chinese intelligentsia, impressed by the October Socialist Revolution in Russia and offended by the decision of the Versailles Conference to transfer Shandong Province to Japan, launched a people's liberation movement. Soon the majority of the country's population joined the young patriots, who did not like the dominance of foreigners and reactionaries in the official and unofficial government. Just two years later, the Chinese Communist Party emerged. So the May 4 holiday especially emphasizes that the communists cannot go without youth.

In Zambia, the holiday falls on March 12th. This is a very important holiday for the country, because a significant proportion of the population of Zambia is young, but instead of ample opportunities for development, young men and women often have only one way - to the bottom of society. Unemployment and all kinds of social vices lead to the active marginalization of Zambian youth. So on March 12, the government is trying to show that it is helping the new generation to solve various problems. Mandatory events on this day are the adoption of special laws in support of youth policy and the holding of street marches. Of the festive events, young Zambians have only sports and tree planting.

In our country, Youth Day is held mainly as a series of concerts and festivities, and since the day often falls on weekdays, events are shifted to the next weekend. Although lately both politicians and social activists have been trying to use the “Danish” pretext for positive purposes. Programs vary from city to city. For example, this summer, a street fashion festival is being held in Dneprodzerzhinsk, they will choose the most unusual representatives of youth subcultures. And in Izhevsk they organize a marathon of brides, a parade of strollers and an action to popularize contract service in the army. But in Novosibirsk, most of the Youth Day events coincide with the City Day. However, the heroes of the occasion should not be offended, because young people mostly come to celebrate the name day of the capital of the region, and the city itself can be called a symbol of young Siberia.
