The New Year holidays have died down, it's time to part with their main symbol - the Christmas tree. However, there are several ways to extend her stay in the house or apartment for a longer period.
Despite the fact that many families recently most often use artificial Christmas trees to decorate their homes, love for real forest beauties has no boundaries. They bring fresh air and a unique forest scent to our home. But only after a certain time, natural spruces begin to crumble and give their owners a lot of problems associated with their harvesting. But this process of wilting of the plant can be slowed down.
The most important thing is to choose the right location for the spruce in the living area. The tree must be placed away from heating systems, heating devices and direct sunlight. It is also important to think about the container in which it will be located. For this, it is better to use a large bucket or pot, into which fertile soil mixed with sand is poured.
Every day, in addition to the usual watering of the root system, the branches of the Christmas tree are sprayed with warm water to prevent them from drying out. If artificial snow was used to decorate the Christmas tree, then after the end of the holidays it is better to wash it off. It interferes with the proper respiration of the plant.
In some cases, a small pot was initially chosen. Then it will be more correct to transplant the tree into a new large container. At the same time, a drainage layer is arranged at the bottom of the pot, and the tree is watered abundantly before and after transplanting. It is important not to deepen the root collar of the plant. The earth is kept constantly wet.
After the end of the New Year holidays, the tree should be placed in a room with a temperature of about +10 degrees. Or take it out to the glassed-in balcony. In this case, the pot is insulated to prevent the roots from freezing.
But all the same, even if you comply with all the conditions for extending the life of the New Year tree, it is not a fact that you will achieve a positive result. The only coniferous plant suitable for home cultivation is araucaria. It can also replace a Christmas tree for a festive decoration.
