Eid al-Adha is one of the oldest Muslim holidays, which is usually celebrated on a wide scale for several days. Every year Uraza is celebrated at a different time, since its beginning depends on the end of the eighth month according to the Muslim calendar - Ramadan.

Step 1
Uraza is also called the holiday of breaking the fast, because this day marks the end of the most difficult month of the year for Muslims - Ramadan. This holiday was established in 624 by the prophet Muhammad, and since then it has been strictly observed by all adherents of Islam. In many countries, Eid al-Adha is considered a day off, because it is prohibited to work during this holiday.

In 2014, Uraza according to the Muslim calendar falls on July 28, and it will traditionally be celebrated for three days from July 28 to 30. This holiday is preceded by the obligatory collection of alms for the needy, which is called zakat. This ritual is one of the five pillars of Islam, therefore, it is strictly observed by all adherents of this religion.

Muslim families begin to prepare for Eid al-Adha in four days. Housewives always carefully clean their homes, not forgetting about cleaning the barn and the livestock itself, because for the holiday everything should sparkle with cleanliness. After that, each family member tidies himself up and always dresses in clean clothes so that nothing would overshadow the celebration of the most important day in the Muslim calendar. Well, on the eve, the hostesses begin to prepare various delicious dishes and exchange them for other treats with friends, relatives and acquaintances. Cooked treats are usually carried by kids. It is believed that the house must smell like food before the holiday.

The celebration of Eid al-Adha begins with a special prayer in all mosques, which takes place one hour after sunset. Both men and women are present at it. After that, Muslims return home, put on their festive clothes and wait for relatives, friends and neighbors to visit the rich feast. It is not customary to work on this day in Muslim countries, therefore, festivities are often held on the streets, and the residents themselves not only receive guests, but also pay a return visit later. During the celebration of Eid al-Adha, it is also customary to visit the graves of deceased loved ones and ask for forgiveness from each other.
