The modern schoolchild has to work hard enough to acquire knowledge. Therefore, school holidays are becoming so long-awaited. During the period free from school, children have the opportunity to spend more time with their parents, actively relax, and recuperate. According to the established tradition, Russian schoolchildren have a rest four times a year.
The question of the timing of the holidays for students is decided by the School Council individually in each educational institution. Usually the decision is made at the very beginning of the school year and is enshrined in the order of the school director. At the same time, there are terms recommended annually by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, as well as by district and district departments in charge of education. These guidelines are optional, but most schools try to take them into account when preparing work plans for the year. As a rule, the beginning of the holidays is tied to the beginning of the school week. In autumn, this is the first Monday in November (the duration of the rest is 7-10 days); in winter, the holidays start on the last Monday in December and last 14-20 days. Spring school breaks lasting 7-10 days are usually scheduled for the last Monday in March. The longest vacations are summer ones, usually starting on May 24 or 25 and lasting until the end of August. Since there are no uniform legislative norms setting the dates and dates for vacations in Russia, the administration of each educational institution draws up a schedule of students' rest independently. At the same time, it should be noted that if the school is private, the dates of the beginning of the holidays may differ significantly from the holidays in public schools. As stated in the Law of the Russian Federation “On Education, students must unlearn during the year as long as the basic plan of educational activities provides. The law does not say about the exact dates of the holidays. Currently, the curriculum provides 36 academic weeks, while the remaining 16 weeks of the year are allocated for vacation. It is the responsibility of school administrators to allocate this time. However, parental committees may require the school to change the timing of vacations and distribute the school workload differently, making it more convenient for students and parents, and not just for teachers. Usually, the class schedule is adjusted to the teaching staff. In some schools, the dates of the holidays are also planned taking into account the wishes of the school authorities.
