When making hikes, during outings to nature with an overnight stay, it is required to equip some kind of shelter. Of course, you can sleep in a car, in a factory-made tent or in a sleeping bag, but these benefits of civilization may not always be at hand. In this case, you can build a hut from scrap materials.

Poles, twigs, plastic wrap or tarp

Instructions

Step 1

Select a suitable dry place before building your hut. It is desirable that there be a natural barrier from the wind, and firewood for a fire could be easily found nearby.

Step 2

Find and cut thin poles for the frame of the structure near the place where the hut is broken. The simplest lean-to shelter consists of two posts and a crossbar between them. Use a freestanding tree as one of the racks, build the second rack from a spear about one and a half meters long. Drive the spear into the ground three meters from the tree. Attach a support rail of the appropriate length between the tree and the spear.

Step 3

On one side of the structure, place several thin poles obliquely on the support bar, resting their ends on the ground. Lay the pre-stored plastic wrap or tarpaulin on the resulting inclined wall. Press the lower edge of such a coating to the ground with a pole or heavy stones so that it will not be ripped off by a gust of wind.

Step 4

If there are conifers nearby, make something like a bed out of the branches. Make a fire no closer than a meter from the hut.

Step 5

You will need more time to build a gable hut. First, prepare a support rail, two strong racks, and thin rods.

Step 6

Place the posts vertically, driving them into the ground about a third of their length. Place a horizontal support rail on top of them. Lay thin poles in a row on this crossbar, they will function as rafters. Lay the material to cover the hut (spruce branches, tree branches, grass) on thin poles. Lay the material from bottom to top so that the top row overlaps the bottom one. Place a fire near the entrance to the hut.
