Instructions

Step 1

The Christmas table is served on the evening of January 6th. With the rise of the first star, the hostess traditionally took out the most beautiful snow-white tablecloth. Hay was always brought to the house in advance, as a reminder of the place where Jesus was born. Now it is difficult to find hay, but the table can be decorated with a homemade nativity scene - a composition illustrating the moment of the birth of the Savior. And also spruce or pine branches, garlands and decorative bells. However, remember - there should not be a lot of decorations, know when to stop!

Step 2

Think in advance about the place of each guest at the table. The host and hostess usually sit opposite each other. On the right hand of each of them, the places of honored guests are determined: the male guest is seated with the hostess, the woman with the owner. Places of guests-spouses should not be nearby, if they are not newlyweds.

Step 3

What treats are appropriate for Christmas? If you decide to observe ancient traditions on this day, serve at least 12 dishes on the table. The main ones can be duck or goose baked with apples, stewed rabbit, boiled chicken. For an appetizer, take jellied meat, sausage, ham, jellied fish, cheese, mushrooms and fruits. For dessert, you can offer pies and gingerbread, and all this should be washed down.

Step 4

In the center of the table, you can put a vase with beautifully arranged fruits. Its leg should be covered with flowers, and candlesticks with burning candles should be placed on both sides. Linen napkins folded in a triangle or quadrangle are placed under the plates. Try to keep all the dishes the same - from one set. Place flat plates for bread and pies to the left of each plate. Food is served on the left and first to women, and then to men. Make sure that no guest has to reach for a salt shaker and spices. Place the wine near the fruit bowl. Cheese and sweets are placed on the table after the main courses are eaten.

Step 5

But the Christmas table is not considered complete until there is no main dish on it - "Rich kutya". It is customary to try it first - to break the fast after fasting. Prepare "Rich kutya" as follows: cook a crumbly porridge from 1 glass of wheat or other grains. Soak half a glass of seedless raisins in boiling water for half an hour, then drain. Pour half a glass of confectionery poppy with boiling water, boil for 3 minutes and fold into a sieve to glass the water. Stir the poppy seeds with 2-3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and pass through a meat grinder. Fry half a glass of walnut kernels in a pan, peel and chop. Mix all the ingredients and add 4-5 tablespoons of honey. Refrigerate and serve.

Step 6

At the festive Christmas table, try to create a warm, friendly atmosphere. Leisurely conversations are appropriate. Be sure to give the floor for congratulations to senior and honored guests. Be polite, courteous, and friendly. And don't forget to give gifts prepared in advance!
