New Year is an occasion to please loved ones with favorite delicacies and festive table setting. How to set the table for the new year, observing Russian traditions and European standards for serving a festive event, we will consider further.

Step 1
Cover the table with a festive crisp white lace tablecloth. Then prepare your tableware. It is best when all the dishes are designed in the same style - so take care of a ready-made set of utensils for 12 people (more is better than less - guests have the peculiarity of unexpected appearance on the doorstep of the apartment). Arrange the dishes on the table at an equal distance from each other. First, place the deep plates, put the snack plates on them, and next to very small ones for dessert. There should be as many cutlery as you expect to prepare dishes, i.e. one plate for salads and appetizers, the second for main courses - roast with a side dish, for example. Therefore, on the left side of the plates, place several forks, and on the right several knives with different points for cutting meat or fish. The knives should be pointed towards the plate. Appliances should be used, starting with the outer ones and ending with the ones closest to the plate. Place beautifully folded napkins in a triangle or fan shape inside the plate. Also put in a few glasses, depending on your choice of alcoholic beverages. For cognac - a wide glass with a low stem, for water - a simple glass, for champagne - a beautiful narrow glass with a long thin stem.
Step 2
Dishes. Usually they try to prepare dishes for the New Year in accordance with the "preferences" of the symbol of the year that is coming. So in the year of the rabbit, you should not eat the carcass of a rabbit or a hare fried with a crust on New Year's Eve - the symbol of the year may be offended. Look in magazines, on the Internet, what astrologers advise to treat guests to the chimes. For example, in the year of the rooster, it is necessary to have handfuls of nuts, sweet grains, seeds, etc. on the table. So the year will be fruitful for the family financially.
Step 3
New Year's accessories. To give the table a real New Year's mood, lay spruce branches with cones in the center along the table, and two large candlesticks decorated with tinsel (make sure that the tinsel does not light up from the candle). Also place a figure representing the symbol of the year on the table and put sweet treats from Santa Claus into small bags next to each plate.
