A tester is a specialist who tests software. It is thanks to him that the final product works without errors. And, like representatives of many professions, testers have their own professional holiday.
Tester's Day is celebrated annually on September 9th. This is an unofficial holiday. It is believed that he leads his story from a funny case of finding a mistake. On September 9, 1945, scientists from Harvard University, while testing a new computer, noticed that it was not working properly. Having begun to understand the cause of the malfunction, they found a moth stuck among the contacts of an electromechanical relay. One of the scientists who worked with the machine, Grace Hopper, pasted the insect with tape into the technical diary, accompanied by the corresponding inscription "bug". Since then, problems in computing devices have been called "bugs", and September 9 is the Day of the Tester.
The state does not hold any festive events on this day. The specialists themselves and their bosses are engaged in the leisure time of the testers. Often, on September 9, for representatives of this profession, there are seminars at which testers working in various companies can exchange experience, take part in trainings, chat with colleagues, have tea and cake and, if desired, continue the event in a nearby bar.
In large companies, where specialists are working who test the released programs, the management, as a rule, is itself engaged in organizing festive events. Increases, wage increases and other incentives are timed to this day. The bosses arrange funny contests for representatives of the IT department, treat them to a festive dinner and, of course, let the heroes of the occasion go home early. On September 9, be sure to congratulate the testers you know, because the stability of the software installed on your computer depends on these people.
