Instructions

Step 1

Examine the packaging of the garland: it should indicate the manufacturer, purpose (street, Christmas tree, interior), power and voltage. There should be instructions in the box, study it. Also look at the small label near the fork - it may also contain important information.

Step 2

Determine the size of the garland you need. It depends on where you will hang it. If on a tree, then the height and circumference are important. But in any case, check that the length of the wire from the plug to the last light bulb is at least one and a half meters. Also consider how the bulbs should be positioned - often or rarely. Some people prefer the whole tree to shimmer in different colors, while others like a few mysterious lights sparkling in the depths.

Step 3

Select the desired wire color. As a rule, garlands are made with green wires, but there are artificial trees of white or silver color. Do not despair - the wires are made in different colors, it's just easier to find green ones. You can buy a garland with transparent cords to decorate any Christmas tree or interior. The section must be at least 0.5 square millimeters. Also check how tight and flexible the insulation is on the wires. Look at the place where the cord connects to the plug, the lights and the mode switch - these are problem areas that often cause breakdowns. Press down on the sides of the switch - if you feel that the plastic is thin and can crack at any time, it's best not to risk it.

Step 4

See what modes the garland has and how many there are. There are many different options, the lights can turn on gradually and go out, quickly sparkle, blink. There are also different shapes of bulbs: in the form of stars, balls, hearts, bells, snowflakes. Garlands with "antique" candles look very nice on the Christmas tree. Choose the shape, color and size of the lamps depending on the design of the Christmas tree or interior. If the garland consists of 18 or more bulbs, the set should have three additional ones, if it has less than 18, then two.

Step 5

If you choose a garland for outdoor use, check the moisture protection of the lamps. Look at the marking - it must have an IP 23 mark. It is dangerous to use a garland that is not protected from water in the street.
