Gleb Kotelnikov invented, designed and tested the first automatic parachute. This was prompted by the tragic outcomes of air flights. On July 26, 1930, a group of paratroopers made a series of jumps with his invention. Since then, this date has become a holiday for everyone who at least once in their life soared above the ground in free fall.
Parachutist Day in Russia has not yet been legally approved. But, despite this, it is celebrated in many cities. Moreover, it is celebrated not only by professionals, but also by amateurs.
Almost everyone can jump with a parachute (except for minors and people with serious illnesses). You just need to go through a little training and get the courage. Moreover, in some cities this can be done completely free of charge, because the exercises are paid for by the municipality. Unfortunately, in most settlements such fun is paid, and it is not cheap at all.
In each city, the celebration of the Day of the Skydiver is held in its own way. Of course, if possible, fans of this sport hold demonstration jumps. In many cities, competitions are organized for the duration of the free fall, the accuracy of landing and the performance of acrobatic figures in flight.
Every year, on the Day of the parachutist, a group jump "Pearls of Russia" is organized. This organization was born in 2006, it consists only of girls. Moreover, some of them are engaged in jumping not so long ago, only about a year. On July 26, 2012, they set a new world record. 88 people jumped together into a huge flower. But in the near future, the professionals are planning to break this record by gathering a formation of a hundred people. The money that was received from the show in 2012 will go to the Children's and Youth Parachute School.
Parachutist festivals are held in different cities of Russia. Traditionally, mass festivities and entertainment events are organized on this day. And those who cannot afford to jump with a parachute celebrate this holiday in nightclubs and restaurants. On this day, themed parties and unforgettable discos are held in many entertainment venues.
