In addition, in accordance with Russian law, Thursday 11 June is considered a pre-holiday day, and the working day should be reduced by one hour.
Last year, the June vacation was four days, since Russia Day was celebrated on Thursday, and one of the holidays that fell on New Year's holidays was postponed to Friday, June 13. This year, such transfers are not provided, so we will celebrate the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of our country strictly according to the calendar.
For employees of organizations with a six-day working week, the holidays will be "broken" - Saturday, June 13 is a working day for them.
About the history of the holiday
The Day of Russia has a second official name - "The Day of Adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation", and unofficially it is often called the Day of Independence.
The "countdown" of the history of the holiday begins in 1990: on June 12, at the first Congress of People's Deputies of the RSFSR, a declaration was adopted proclaiming the state sovereignty of the Russian republic. Since 1992, this day has become a day off in our country. And in 2002 the holiday received the official name "Day of Russia".
Celebration traditions have developed quite quickly: on this day, festivities, parades and processions, open-air concerts, various patriotic events are held in the cities of Russia. State symbols, ribbons and balloons in white-blue-red colors of the Russian flag have become an integral part of the holiday. In many cities, City Day is celebrated on this day.
By 2005, the Day of Russia essentially replaced another holiday from the calendar - Constitution Day, which was celebrated on December 12 and was never accompanied by mass festive events. Constitution Day has ceased to be a day off and passed into the category of "memorable dates".
