For many people, spearfishing is associated primarily with the depths of the sea. However, there are many enthusiasts of this fascinating activity in Russia, for whom the best hunting places are reservoirs located near large cities.
In terms of the size of prey, of course, sea spearfishing is in the lead. But hunting, for example, in the Moscow region attracts many with its availability and quite good trophies. Few people have the opportunity to go to the sea more than once a year, so prey hunters go to local waters, since spearfishing is one of the most exciting activities, the popularity of which is constantly growing.
So, where in the Moscow region can you hunt with an underwater gun? Of course, where there is clear water. This is the most important criterion for an underwater hunter.

Usually, at the first opportunity, the capital's underwater hunters make their way to the following rivers: Protva (middle course, not south of the city of Borovsk); Lama (upper and middle reaches, up to Yaropolts); Black (area of the village of Osheykino); Severka (up to the state farm "Nikonovskoe"), Vorya (along the entire river), the Ustan River (landmark - the second mill dam.)
I must say that many rivers of the Moscow Region are suitable for spearfishing, especially their middle and upper reaches. In addition to the listed rivers, you can hunt on the Oka and within the capital - on the Moskva River. You can also look for your hunting happiness in the waters of the Mozhaisky or Ozerninsky reservoirs, in which there are quite rare species of fish.
Trophies, as a rule, are not very large, but for a real underwater hunter this is not so important. In the waters of the rivers of the Moscow Region, you can catch catfish, pike, crucian carp, large roach, pike perch, gudgeon, perch, chub, asp and many other fish species. Sometimes here you can get an eel, though of a rather large size.
Some recommendations
Unfortunately, it is possible to hunt lightly in water bodies near the capital only in the warmest months of the year - in June and July. The rest of the time, you should dive in a special suit. To this we can add that without this suit it is advisable to stay in water at a temperature of 16-18 ° C for no more than thirty minutes.
For spearfishing in the Moscow region, an ideal weapon would be a short gun - no more than a meter in length. This is due to the fact that with such a gun it is much easier to maneuver between snags and bushes in the narrow rivers of the Moscow region. When going hunting, you need to have spare tips with you, preferably one-toothed, with a folding beard, thanks to which the prey will not slide off the harpoon.
