You can make DIY Christmas decorations from a wide variety of materials. The most affordable and economical is paper. Moreover, the modern market offers a lot of options for the manifestation of your imagination. In addition to the usual colored paper and cardboard, today you can find corrugated, velvet, neon, glowing in the dark, with sparkles and other sheets. Thus, creating simple home decorations on your own will turn into an interesting creative process.

In addition to paper, you will need scissors, glue (PVA, Moment), a ruler, and a pencil. Also, stock up on markers, paints, colored pencils - this will help make the decor more interesting and bright. A variety of threads will also be needed: from ordinary thin to dense. As a rule, they are used as fastening elements.

The easiest way to decorate an apartment for the New Year is to make bright garlands from colored, shiny or velvet paper. First, decide on the theme: cut Christmas trees, balls, bells, "gingerbread men", symbols of the coming year will look the most festive. Having chosen the main subject, draw its silhouette first on a simple sheet, then transfer it to thick cardboard.

Fold a sheet of your chosen paper in half and attach your template. Circle it, leaving the fold at the top intact: it will be needed to attach the element. Also create a few more figures for the future garland.

Cut a piece of sturdy thread / rope to the desired length. Mount it on the wall. Put on the prepared elements of the garland on top, having previously greased the fold from the inside with glue. Also connect the bottom of each piece. Add additional decorative elements if desired: serpentine, sequins, tinsel, etc.

If the desire to decorate the house appeared spontaneously, and there is no original paper at hand, old magazines can help you. From them, you can easily and quickly create an original Christmas decoration with your own hands. In addition to the magazine, you only need a decor, which can be either tinsel or confetti, or simple buttons, beads, etc. Please note: it is better to take a not very thick edition: a TV program, for example, is perfect. If there are none in the house, you can make a Christmas tree out of paper with your own hands from thick gloss, after removing most of the pages. In the meantime, there is no need to worry about it.”

Place your chosen magazine in front of you. Fold the first page in half towards you. Make the second fold so that the beveled edge meets the left edge (on the following pages, this will be the centerfold). Wrap the lower protruding corner inward. So fold each sheet of the magazine, turning it into an original herringbone as a result. Decorate your piece with the fittings of your choice.
