In the nineteenth century, a new religion appeared - the Bahá'í faith, which is preached by more than five million people in 188 countries. The Bahá'í faith has a special unique calendar - each month has 19 days, the total number of months is 19. On the thirteenth of July, according to the Gregorian calendar, the month of Kalimat begins.
Translated into Russian, "Kalimat" means "Words", all months of this calendar are named after the attributes of God - "Greatness", "Will", "Perfection", etc. The beginning of the thirteenth month of Kalimat (or, in other words, the Feast of the Nineteenth Day) is considered a great holiday, it is an important day for the followers of the Bahá'í faith.
The holiday performs several functions: spiritual, administrative, social. Besides Kalimat, Bahá'ís mark the beginning of other months, that is, they gather every nineteen days.
The concept of the holiday has remained unchanged throughout the history of the Bahá'í faith. Followers of the faith get together, exchange information about the life of the community, communicate, read the scriptures and prayers. Thanks to the joint discussion of pressing issues, believers feel that they are part of the community, are united by common spiritual aspirations.
During the first part of the holiday, believers read the scriptures and prayers, creating an atmosphere of spiritual unity. After the spiritual part comes the time for administrative questions. Believers are informed about the decisions of the Local Spiritual Assembly (they are taken, as a rule, on the basis of the proposals of the previous Holiday). The community treasurer reports on the financial situation. All members present, including children and adolescents, discuss common affairs, exchange news.
At the local level, the Kalimat festival is like a link between the community and the administration of the national and international level. People listen to messages from the administration and can send back their recommendations, so everyone participates in the collective renewal of society.
The holiday ends with friendly communication, treats. Depending on the wishes of the participants, the final part of the Kalimat festival may include music, games, performances by artists and other entertainment.
