In the celebration of the Holy Trinity, pagan and Orthodox traditions were mixed. Believers on Sunday morning must go to church with bouquets of fragrant herbs, thin birch and apple twigs. They are sprinkled with holy water by a priest dressed in green clothes. The floor in the temple and in houses is covered with mown grass and flowers.

There are also a lot of greens on the table on this day, various salads, pies and gingerbreads - symbols of the sun. In ancient times, Slavic peoples celebrated the farewell to spring and the welcome of summer: it was then that the tradition developed to go to the cemetery and sweep the graves with birch branches in order to appease and soothe the spirits of deceased ancestors. It was believed that on this day the branches of this tree acquire special healing powers. Only from that day it was allowed to break brooms for a bath and swim in open reservoirs. The herbs consecrated in the church are still usually dried and carefully preserved until next year. They are used only as a last resort, for example, in the treatment of serious illnesses.

The feast of the Holy Trinity is also celebrated in nature. Green tablecloths specially prepared for the holiday are spread on the grass, the loaves are decorated with flowers. If they are not eaten, then rusks are prepared from them and stored until the wedding of the young, and then, luckily, they are added to the wedding cake when kneading. The girls start games and fortune-telling: they throw spoons into the birch to find out which of them will marry first; they light bonfires and jump over the fire, ride boats lavishly decorated with greenery. For divination on the Trinity, it is customary to weave wreaths and throw them into the water, watching how they behave - drown - to trouble and death of loved ones, wrap themselves in place - to discord and discord in the family, float and be good luck - to an imminent wedding. Some girls gave their wreaths to their lovers as a sign of consent for a quick wedding.

Many traditions disappear, but even now on the day of the Holy Trinity people go out of town, arrange holidays, and especially initiative ones organize fancy-dress festivities.
