World Teachers' Day is the date on which teaching staff celebrate their professional holiday. This happens annually in the fall, October 5th. In the world it is known under the English-language name World Teachers' Day. In addition, in each country that participates in the celebration of this event, there is an approved name for this memorable date in the national language.

Celebration establishment

The initiator of the establishment of this holiday was the United Nations Organization represented by UNESCO, which in 1994 proposed to establish a special day dedicated to the work of teachers at school. It was this day that was chosen as the date of the World Teachers Day for the reason that on October 5, 1966, during a special conference dedicated to the work of teachers, the International Labor Organization, again at the initiative of UNESCO, adopted a special document - "Recommendations regarding the status of teachers ".

The formulated recommendations were signed by the conference participants from both UNESCO and the International Labor Organization. The established provisions determined the joint requirements of these organizations for the working conditions of teachers at school. These recommendations became the first international document regulating the state of affairs in this area.

Celebrating World Teachers Day

Since then, more than 100 countries have joined the celebration of the World Teachers Day, which celebrate this professional holiday directly on October 5 or on nearby dates. Russia began to celebrate World Teachers Day in the same year that UNESCO established this holiday, that is, in 1994. However, it should be borne in mind that before that in our country there was a memorable date dedicated to their hard work: it was celebrated on the first Sunday in October. Moreover, for the first time such a holiday was established in Russia a long time ago - in 1965.

On this day, solemn events are traditionally held in the Russian Federation, to which honored and young teachers are invited to participate. In addition, in many constituent entities of the Federation, special events related to the implementation of teachers' activities are timed to coincide with this date. For example, on October 5, it is customary to hold various seminars and conferences dedicated to improving the quality and efficiency of their work, as well as to sum up the results of various competitions in which teachers who have devoted their lives to school take part.
