Unfortunately, loved ones do not always give us what we would like to receive. Often, in an effort to somehow show their attention, friends give fridge magnets, souvenirs, cosmetics that we do not use, in a word, it is not at all what we would like to receive and could use. Here are some tips on how not to turn your apartment into a museum.
Instructions
Step 1
Gift - donated! Of course, it is not very convenient in front of a friend who is trying his best to please you, but gives you a trinket that will collect dust on you. But now you are its rightful owner and you can give it to someone else, especially if this someone has long dreamed about this particular thing. The only question is the packaging. Rather, you damaged it slightly by unwrapping the gift. It's okay, replace it with a new one. Even a branded box can be replaced with something universal. It's not very ethical to redo a thing in front of a friend, but if it's unavoidable, don't hide: just explain your motives to him and ask for something specific and really necessary next time.
Step 2
Give the gift to a close relative for safekeeping or perpetual use. If you are presented with a book on art that you are not fond of, and your sister is an art critic, why should the present gather dust on your shelves? The reason is optional, the transfer can take place the next day after the celebration.
Step 3
Even if there are no such friends or relatives, you can get rid of the gift for the benefit of the community. For example, books can be donated to the library; clothes will be accepted by a social center, orphanage or church.
It is a little more complicated with cosmetics, but it can also be used for it: for example, nail polish is an excellent substitute for paint on wood or fabric. Eye shadow and lipstick can also serve in artistic work, but they do not differ in durability: apply them for creations for one day.
Step 4
You won't be able to get rid of postcards in this way: they are signed especially for you and are of no value to anyone else. Paste them into a photo album, indicating the date and names of the donors.
Step 5
If you have nowhere to store albums, scan postcards or take pictures and save the pictures to your computer in a folder named by the date of the event. Just throw out the postcards themselves.
