On May 8, 1945, the Decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR was adopted, in which May 9 was declared a day of national celebration - the Victory Day. It was read the next morning. There was no parade on that first Victory Day.

Step 1

The first Victory Parade was held in Moscow on June 24, 1945. It has been carefully prepared. After a short speech by Marshal of the Soviet Union Zhukov, the consolidated regiments of the Fronts, Karelsky, Leningradsky, all four Ukrainian, three Belorussian, 1st Baltic, combined regiments of the Navy marched through Red Square. In front of each column were commanders of fronts and armies. The battle banners were carried by the Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Knights of the Orders of Glory.

The next part of the parade was probably the most impressive and memorable. A combined battalion with the banners and standards of Nazi Germany entered Red Square, which were thrown at the foot of the Mausoleum.

Then, units of the Moscow garrison, military educational institutions, artillery, air defense, cavalry, tank and motto convoy marched through Red Square. Combat aircraft also took part in the parade.

The second Victory Parade took place only in 1965. In terms of the number of equipment involved, it exceeded the previous one. In subsequent years, the troops traditionally participated in the celebrations on Red Square, dedicated to November 7 and May 1. There were no Victory Day parades.

The first military parade after the collapse of the Soviet Union took place in 1995 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Victory. However, military equipment then passed not along Red Square, but along Poklonnaya Hill. Since then, parades have been held annually. But the next time military equipment entered Red Square only in 2008.

Step 6

On May 9, 2012, about 100 units of military equipment were brought to the parade dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the Great Victory. The vehicles "Tiger" and "Lynx", armored personnel carriers BTR-80, T-90 tanks and self-propelled artillery guns "Msta-S" were involved. In addition, launchers of anti-aircraft missile systems and complexes S-400, Triumph, Iskander-M, Pantsir-S, Buk-M2, Topol-M1 passed through Red Square. Five military transport helicopters Mi-8 carried Russian flags over the square.
