New Year in Europe
New Year in European countries will appeal to fans of the traditional noisy holiday. After a family Catholic and Protestant Christmas on New Years, Europeans put on fireworks and throw big parties. You can book a place in the restaurant in advance or just go to the main city squares. Most often, tourists go to celebrate the New Year's holidays in Prague, Paris, Budapest, Warsaw, Rome, Barcelona.
It is quite interesting to celebrate the onset of the new year in Madrid. Before the chimes, 12 grapes are eaten in the central square of Puerta del Sol. Also, to attract good luck in the new year, it is advisable to come to the celebration in red underwear, which traditionally attracts financial success.
In Milan, you can visit the fair, which is open even before the beginning of January. Here you can also try the Italian nut bread with candied fruits - Panforte, or the traditional Lombardy dessert - Panettone.
Those who need snowy landscapes outside the window can celebrate the New Year in a quieter place. For example, you can rent a small house in the mountains in Austria, Germany, Italy or Switzerland. During the day, you can climb the slopes and go skiing, sledding or snowboarding, and in the evening you can light a fireplace or take a walk in the surrounding area. You need to take care of booking in advance, as this type of accommodation is in great demand among Europeans before the winter holidays. Many of the houses have been occupied since August.
New year at sea
If the presence of snow and the usual climate is not required, a good solution would be to fly to the seaside for the holidays. From the warmest countries, where you can swim in the sea even in winter, you can choose:
- Asian countries: Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam;
- Caribbean countries: Dominican Republic, Cuba and others;
- Canary Islands, UAE.
If the choice fell on Asian countries, then you need to be prepared for the fact that the New Year in Asian countries is celebrated in spring, and not in December. Therefore, there will be no party on the streets and will have to be content with just a party at the hotel. In the Dominican Republic and Cuba, celebrations, on the contrary, are noisy and fun. On New Year's Eve, you can take part in a salsa party and watch the fireworks. You can also relax in the Canary Islands, where traditions are identical to European ones. In the UAE, you can visit the Mall of the Emirates, the world's largest shopping and entertainment center, where you can fully enjoy your ski holidays in Ski Dubai in the middle of the desert!
