In modern Russia, May 1 is associated with one of the most popular Soviet holidays - International Workers' Solidarity Day. Today, May Day is still a national holiday and a day off, although it is called differently: the day of Spring and Labor. Since the overwhelming majority of Russians do not work on the first day of May, the question naturally arises: what is the more interesting way to celebrate modern May Day?

Instructions

Step 1

If you are a fan of traditions or just a fan of public events, go to the demonstration on May 1 in the morning. In every city it is conducted by trade union organizations, political parties or representatives of local authorities. If you are going to a demonstration with colleagues, check in advance if you need to come with posters (they can be both congratulations and slogans). Bring balloons with you, preferably of the same color, so that your organization stands out from the other columns.

Step 2

If you are more interested in the history of Western Europe, you can celebrate the first of May, more precisely on the night of this date, the old pre-Christian holiday - Walpurgis Night. In ancient times, this holiday was considered a platform for the sabbath of witches and was celebrated by pagans. Bonfires lit all night long were his main feature. With gatherings around the fire, you can also celebrate the first of May, a German holiday - May Night, on which the May king and queen were chosen among the walking youth and they danced around the May pole.

Step 3

Those who adhere to Slavic customs can celebrate the first of May according to an old Russian tradition - resting and having fun in nature. In pre-Christian times, it was customary to celebrate Zhivin's day (Zhiva is the pagan goddess of spring). On the first of May, our ancestors did not work, took to the streets, made fires and jumped over them, danced and sang songs. A faint echo of this holiday today is traditional outings with companies for barbecues on May Day or just a picnic in the fresh air with the family.

Step 4

You can celebrate Spring Day by being in a real blooming land. Unfortunately, in many parts of Russia the weather on May 1 leaves much to be desired. But there is a reason to buy a ticket and leave for the May holidays in Turkey or another warm country. Only you will have to take care of the tour in advance, since during the spring holidays the demand for trips to hot regions increases significantly.
