September 20 is not too much to celebrate. However, this does not apply to employees of recruiting agencies - on this day they celebrate their professional holiday.

Recruiter's Day

On September 20, employees of recruiting agencies celebrate their professional holiday in Russia. For the first time, compatriots learned about the profession of a recruiter in 1991 thanks to an article in the Izvestia newspaper. It described the activities of an American HR agency and recruiting methods. Ten years later, on September 20, 2001, Recruiter's Day became an official holiday celebrated in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Since then, celebrations, round tables, seminars, lectures and press conferences have been held annually on this day. Thus, a significant date becomes an occasion for meetings and an opportunity to tell the public about the situation on the labor market. For Russia, this is extremely important, since the profession of a recruiter is still not even in the registers of the Ministry of Labor, and not everyone undertakes to engage in such socially useful activities.

It should be noted that so far not a single Russian university graduates specialist recruiters.

Night of the bats

On the night of September 20-21, in many countries of the world, one of the most original nature conservation holidays is held - the Night of the Bats. Its goal is not only to draw attention to the problems of protecting these amazing animals, but also to debunk all sorts of stereotypes that have developed around bats. Unfortunately, many people still have a superstitious fear of bats and even find them disgusting. Meanwhile, some species are threatened with extinction, and efforts of as many people as possible are needed to stop depopulation.

In Russia, the Night of the Bats was first celebrated in 2003.

Memorial Day Saint Macarius of Optina

According to the Orthodox calendar, September 20 is the Memorial Day of the famous Optina elder Macarius (in the world - Mikhail Ivanov). Mikhail was born into a noble family in the Oryol province and lost his mother early, to whom he was very attached. He grew up as a quiet, self-absorbed boy, and at the age of 21 he was accepted into a monastery, where he was tonsured into a ryassophor with the name Melchizedek. Five years later, he was tonsured into a mantle with the name Macarius - in honor of the Monk Macarius the Great.

In 1834 he moved to the Svyato-Vvedenskaya Optina Hermitage, a stavropegic monastery for the Kaluga diocese. There he headed a group of scholars and writers, consisting of both monks and lay people, who translated and adapted the writings of the greatest ascetics of antiquity: from Isaac the Syrian to John Climacus.
