Spain attracts thousands of tourists every year. And the reason for this is not only the hot sun and the gentle sea. The ancient history of the country, as well as national entertainment shows, give a tremendous emotional charge and great mood. That is why some tourists prefer to choose a time for rest in order to get to the festival of bulls in Spain.
The blood of real conquistadors flows in the veins of the Spaniards, which is probably why traditional amusements are alive here, testing daredevils for the strength of mind and body. Every year, the north of Spain receives thousands of locals and tourists in the city of Pamplona (capital of the Navarro region), where the San Fermin festival is held, dedicated to the patron saint of the region - Saint Fermin. In the 13th century, he became the savior of the city, saving it from a severe plague epidemic.
The main event of the event, which lasts six days, is “encierro” - the joint races of people and bulls. The Ensierro is held daily at eight in the morning. Bulls brought to the city, which take part in evening bullfights, live for some time in pens specially created within the city. At the appointed time, the gates of the corral are opened and aggressive animals are released into a fenced narrow street, 850 m long.
In front of the angry bulls, brave race participants are running, dressed in white shirts and red scarves around their necks. Everyone is holding the only weapon in their hands - a newspaper. Of course, it will not save you from massive horns and hooves, but it will help to draw the bull's attention to itself when it runs to a comrade.
In 2012, you can get to the festival of bulls in Spain from 6 to 15 July. The races are held daily, the action begins at eight in the morning. The entire duration is no more than four minutes.
To get to the Bulls Festival in Spain, you need to book a plane ticket to Madrid or Barcelona. If you need to stay overnight in the city of arrival, be sure to book the hotel in advance. It is best to get to Pamplona by train (travel time - 5 hours) or by car (in order to rent a car, you must have an international driving license and driving experience of at least six months). There are also direct buses from Madrid. A flight to Pamplona can also be a convenient option. You can book a plane ticket directly from Russia.
Note that you may not be just a spectator at the Spanish Bulls Festival. Anyone can take part in the race and test themselves for strength. Just be careful: adrenaline races are never injured. Since 1924, 15 people have died while participating in the races. The last tragic incident took place in 2009. But, nevertheless, those who at least once took part in races with bulls return to the extreme "track" again. Small injuries, scratches, fractures manage to heal in a year, but vivid impressions remain.
