World Oceans Day is a relatively new holiday. For the first time, the idea to hold it was voiced in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro at the International Summit. Instructions

Step 1

The goal of World Oceans Day is to draw attention to the problems of an area that is far from the attention of people in their ordinary life: the pollution of the oceans and the disappearance of rare animals and plants. On this day, the administration and employees of various aquariums, zoos, dolphinariums and similar institutions organize events aimed at informing guests about the problems of the oceans. The priority areas of this work are the observance of the rights of marine inhabitants, support and improvement of the ecological situation on the planet's water resources, care for the marine and oceanic flora and fauna. Such official events are an excellent opportunity to tell people as much as possible about the problems of the planet, to explain that the Earth is a home common for people and animals, including underwater inhabitants.

Step 2

Oceans Day is now celebrated in almost all countries of the world. Particularly interesting events can be seen in places with access to the sea. For example, in the Maldives, where people's lives largely depend on the resources of the ocean, very interesting events are held. Hotels organize promotions, during which both staff and tourists have the opportunity to make scuba dives, during which they can clean up the coastal bottom and plants. Any garbage that appears after the tourist seasons is also collected from the surface of the sea. Such oceanic "subbotniks" seem to be an insignificant contribution to the purity of the ocean, but they help to significantly improve the purity of at least the coastal zone.

Step 3

World Oceans Day is also celebrated on land. For example, in 2012 a whole wave of events took place in Russia (Moscow), South Korea, North America and other countries. Exhibitions and information displays were organized. Pavilions in North Korea were illuminated with three colors that symbolize the oceans: white (ice and beaches), blue (sea water) and purple (underwater depths). In New York at the same time, exactly the same lighting was operating, this was organized by international agreement.
