It would seem that decorating a house for the new year is such an elementary and even familiar process, performed from year to year. However, even here a number of mistakes can be made, which in the end can negatively affect the festive atmosphere. What nuances should be taken into account when creating a New Year's decor?
When deciding how to decorate your home for the new year, you need to rely on your own taste, on the possibilities. The role is played by the color palette of the interior; the dimensions of the apartment / house must be taken into account. And, of course, we must not forget about the banal safety precautions. Approaching the issue of interior decoration for the winter holiday carelessly and without inspiration, as a result, you may face the fact that New Year's decorations will not bring joy. And the process itself will not evoke positive feelings. You should not rush here, you need to think in advance where to put the tree for the new year, what toys to choose, and so on. There are a number of things to avoid when preparing your home for the holidays.
How not to decorate the interior for the new year
- Do not limit yourself to just one room in an apartment / house. Of course, the main room where the direct meeting of the new year will take place should be as elegant and festive as possible. However, it is worth bringing a bit of magic to other parts of the home as well. For example, you shouldn't ignore the bedroom. If you do not want to very much decorate this area, then you can limit yourself only to aromatic New Year's candles, a garland.
- It is not recommended to use only one color in the New Year's decor. Of course, such brevity can be original, but it is better to dilute the color palette. So, for example, taking blue as a basis, you can choose its different shades, tones and halftones. Then the festive interior of the house will sparkle in a new way.
- Do not overdo it with an abundance of red. This tone is considered the most New Year's one, the red color creates a mood, many associate with childhood. However, its excessive use in jewelry can ultimately negatively affect the emotional background. The fact is that red is a very powerful color, it has a very strong effect on the human psyche. If there are many elements of this tone around, then gradually you can begin to feel aggression, irritability, nervousness. You should not bring a lot of red into the nursery, as this color stimulates physical activity, irritates the nervous system, can provoke outbursts of rage in a child or cause insomnia.
- Safety precautions are something that should not be forgotten when dressing up an apartment / house for the new year. You should not decorate a Christmas tree - natural or artificial - with real candles, the lights of which can easily set fire to the needles. Garlands should not be left on day and night, especially cheap models. The wires from the flashlights must be securely hidden and secured so that they do not fall under your feet.
- It is not recommended to mix dozens of different styles in a New Year's interior. Festive toys are made from different materials, from plastic to wood or paper. It is better to choose one direction, for example, to create a New Year's interior of the house using glass toys.
- We must abandon the use of old things in the decor. Shabby or completely battered Christmas tree toys, a well-worn serpentine, tarnished tinsel - all this will not create a New Year's mood. Even if these items are very expensive, it is best to replace them with new toys and jewelry. At the very least, the old elements of the festive decor should definitely not dominate the background of the rest of the decorations.
- In everything, you need to know when to stop: do not overdo it with the New Year's decor at home. If you put all the options for figurines and decorative ornaments in the room, hang the festive tree with dozens of different toys, then this will create the impression of chaos and look lurid. In addition, you need to carefully monitor the weight of the decorations that are located on the New Year's tree so that they are not very massive and heavy. Otherwise, the tree may tilt or collapse to the floor at the most inopportune moment.
- There is no need to put a Christmas tree, especially a large and very fluffy one, in the very center of the room, especially if the room itself is small. In such a place, the New Year tree will interfere, create "emergency situations." For the tree, you need to carefully choose a place so that it is in sight, but at the same time does not interfere.
- When decorating a New Year's table, you cannot choose an old tablecloth, especially one that does not fit at all in size. Moreover, table decoration in general should not conflict, argue with the rest of the decor in the room.
- In a dark interior, you do not need to use the same dark New Year's decor. It is also not recommended to decorate such rooms in a "cold style": use abundantly white, blue, pale purple, silver colors. Otherwise, the room will look like an ice cave, and there may not be a trace of the festive mood. But a warm and light interior can be decorated in such a way as to add new color notes, accents, and bright elements to it.
