When a child in kindergarten or school has a New Year's holiday, a masquerade ball, he needs a costume. Not everyone has the opportunity to purchase a ready-made outfit, so you can try to make it yourself. One of the original transformation options is a dinosaur costume.
Spines and tail. Suit from old clothes
The easiest way is to sew a children's dinosaur costume from an existing costume in a suitable color. An old unnecessary fleece suit, consisting of pants and a jacket with a hood, is ideal. You can choose any color you like, but for maximum resemblance to a dinosaur, green is preferable.
If there is no suitable costume, you can buy the cheapest one in the store - in any case, it will cost much less than buying a ready-made fancy dress or sewing it to order.
To turn an ordinary costume into a dragon outfit, it is enough to sew spikes and a tail to it. The spikes should start at the top of the hood, go down the back and blend into the tail. Thorns can be sewn in two ways: from a dense material, such as felt, so that they stand and do not fall in different directions. Or make them voluminous - sew a thorn from two pieces of fabric in the shape of a triangle, and fill it with cotton wool or padding polyester.
You can even use only a sweater with a hood, it will also look very impressive on its own, and the child will be delighted.
Express option. Only tail
Another option for the costume is to sew only the tail. It should be voluminous, massive and bright in order to attract attention, since there are no other elements.
Since the only part of this dinosaur costume is the tail, it is best to decorate it and make it as bright, catchy and shiny as possible.
To sew a tail, you need dense material. Fleece in a bright color is ideal. Two triangles need to be cut out of the fabric so that the workpiece resembles a cone in shape. It is necessary to sew two triangles and fill with any available filler - for example, padding polyester, then sew a belt to the tail. The belt is best made from the same material as the tail itself. It is also important to remember about the spikes on the tail. They can be sewn in the same way as the tail itself, and stuffed with the same filler, or you can choose a denser fabric for them. It is important to remember that the size of the spines should decrease towards the tip of the tail - so that the largest spine is at the base, and the smallest at the tip. It is better to select the color of the matter as it should contrast with the color of the tail as much as possible.
To make the tail look as elegant as possible, you can make a drawing, for which you can use sparkles that imitate scales, beads, ribbons and any other accessories.
One-piece jumpsuit
This method is the most difficult and time-consuming - to sew a dinosaur costume in one-piece jumpsuit with a hood and a tail with a zipper in the middle. This requires a pattern. You can try to find it in a sewing magazine such as Burda.
In order for the child to remember the New Year, you should try and make the dinosaur costume beautiful and unusual. If you take one of the options as a template and add your own ideas, the dinosaur will be unique.
