A retrospective exhibition of the Italian photographer Franck Fontano will take place from June 1 to June 30, 2012 in Moscow, in the MOD DESIGN center. It will feature works created from 1970 to 2007 and taken from the author's personal collection.

Franco Fontano began photography in 1961 at the age of twenty-eight, and in 1963 he took part in the International Exhibition in Vienna. His works are in the most famous museums in the world: the National Museum of Photography (Tokyo), the Museum of Modern Art (New York), etc. Fontano collaborates with such popular magazines as: Life, Time, Vogue. In Moscow, his works have already been exhibited in 2008 as part of the Photobiennale.

Step 3

The works for the current exhibition were chosen by the author himself. In April 2012, the exhibition visited St. Petersburg, and before that in Salekhard, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Samara and Omsk. Throughout his creative life, Fontano used a variety of photo genres, but his landscape photographs were selected for the Moscow exhibition 2012.

Step 4

It is believed that the style of Franco Fontano was formed by the end of the 1960s, not without the influence of painting of abstract minimalism and expressionism. Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko and Ed Reinhard are called his teachers. The direction in which Fontano created his works, critics called "photographic transavant-garde".

Step 5

The photographer, on the other hand, calls his style "the concept of lines": his work is distinguished by the fact that in them geometric clarity merges with bright colors, which are unusual for black and white art photography, which was predominant at that time.

Step 6

Franco Fontano is one of the most famous contemporary photographers in Italy. On his account there are about four hundred exhibitions in various countries of the world and more than forty books. Having exchanged his sixth dozen creative activities, the photographer is not going to go into the shadows and each time he collects full halls of his fans.
