On May 22, 2012, a significant event took place in Stockholm for the three-month-old princess Estelle Sylvia Eva Mary. On this day, her baptism took place, which, according to the law of succession to the throne, is mandatory, since it gives the descendants of the royal dynasty the right to inherit the throne.
Instructions
Step 1
According to information published on the official website of Radio Sweden, the ordinance of baptism began at noon in the Palace Church. But already an hour before the start of the ceremony, almost all the invited guests gathered in the Royal Palace. Among them were not only relatives of Prince Daniel and Crown Princess Victoria, but also representatives of foreign royal dynasties, as well as top officials of the state, famous diplomats, etc.
Step 2
Initially, it was assumed that the sacrament of baptism would be closed, but it was broadcast live on Swedish television. The ceremony was conducted by Archbishop Anders Weyrud, who is the current head of the Swedish Church. For little Estelle, such a long event did not become a test - she behaved calmly. The princess wore a white dress with a long hem, which symbolizes the long journey of strengthening a person in the faith, and the church itself was decorated with picturesque compositions of fresh flowers.
Step 3
When the princess was baptized, King Carl XVI Gustav attached the Order of the Seraphim to her dress. This is the highest order in Sweden, which Estelle will be able to wear only after the age of eighteen. This award is a symbol of the inextricable link between the monarchy and the church. After the end of the ceremony, Crown Princess Victoria, accompanied by her husband and daughter in her arms, went out to greet the people gathered at the gates of the Royal Palace. The solemn event was crowned with 21 salutes of festive fireworks and a subsequent reception for the invited guests.
Step 4
The capital of Sweden presented Estelle with a pear tree as a gift, which is customary to give a baby for baptism. It will grow in the residence of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel - in the Haga palace garden. And on the territory of Okkelbu, where the father of little Estelle was born, in honor of such a significant event, residents planted a cherry tree in accordance with the traditions of these places.
