Our ancestors believed that miracles happen at Epiphany midnight: the sky opens up, giving a person the opportunity to see his future, birds and animals speak the human language, and water acquires special magical power. In Baptism, believers can take advantage of amazing opportunities if they observe simple traditions.

One should start preparing for Baptism the day before. On January 18th, it is supposed to cook lean kutya. As a rule, it is eaten with the family. On January 19, in the morning, it is better to go to church for consecrated water, which our ancestors considered a deliverance from all ailments. It is advisable to prepare convenient bottles in advance that you will refill. It is better to do this the night before.

It is recommended to start the Epiphany breakfast with blessed water. Also, girls and women who want to look more attractive should put coral or a twig of viburnum in such water for a few minutes, and then wash with it. It is believed that due to such washing, the face becomes more beautiful, the skin is cleaner, and the cheeks are more rosy.

One of the most popular traditions in Epiphany is swimming in the ice hole. It is supposed to plunge three times. With this procedure, you can get rid of ailments and cleanse the soul and body. However, if a person does not dare to plunge into the hole with his head, he can simply pour himself over with consecrated water. You can also dip or douse babies with water: as a rule, due to the special properties of Epiphany water, children do not fall ill after such bathing. However, of course, you need to prepare in advance towels, warm clothes, hot tea in a thermos. This will help you warm up quickly.
