During the summer vacation season, many Russian tourists go camping. In Russian usage, this word has become synonymous with tourism, which means camping and car travel. Although initially, camping was understood only as a parking lot for motorhomes or a campground. What is camping in Russian and what awaits a tourist who decides on such a trip?

In Russia, camping has not yet received such a large-scale distribution as in Europe and the United States, and there are several reasons for this. Firstly, this vacation is seasonal due to the climatic conditions of our country. Plus, our road system does not allow you to travel safely around the country. And not everyone can afford to buy or rent a motorhome or a trailer. Therefore, we call any auto tourism extreme. Although in other countries such a vacation is considered a family one.

Camping sites are located in the suburbs of large cities or resort areas. For example, in national parks or at seaside resorts, such parking lots are used by those who have come to rest with a large family or company and do not want to overpay for a hotel. In addition, if you don't like the place, you can always quickly move to another.

The campsite has a large, fenced area. For each caravan or tent there is a fixed place that you are given for rent There you can stay for the paid number of days. All campsites have a landscaped area where household facilities are located, providing a sanitary minimum for residents. There should be toilets, rubbish bins, drinking water on the campground. The water for the caravans is supplied from hoses. It can be shared, or it can be connected to each parking space. An ideal campsite should have a drainage manifold for water and dry toilet waste. But in the Russian version, campgrounds are often found that are not intended for servicing motorhomes. There you can get up in a car and live in a tent, providing yourself with all the necessary minimum household items on your own. Camping sites that accept car caravans have a kitchen and a laundry service, and can provide hot meals for vacationers for an additional fee.

Every motorist can stop at the campsite. It doesn't matter if you are driving a motorhome or a car. In the latter case, you need to look for parking lots that allow you to set up tourist tents and have a minimum set of sanitary and household services.
