Ice skating in St. Petersburg was a popular pastime even at a time when indoor skating rinks were scarce. Now this hobby has become especially widespread, since there are modern skating rinks operating in any weather in almost all districts of the city.

Sports complexes in the historical center of St. Petersburg

Guests of the northern capital usually prefer to have fun in the central regions. If you want to go ice skating without going too far towards the outskirts, you have several options. One of the most famous places is the Yubileiny Sports Palace on Dobrolyubova Avenue, near the Sportivnaya metro station. The work schedule needs to be clarified, since it changes quite often. The sports complex has a wardrobe and skates can be rented. On weekends, this skating rink is open even at night.

The SKA skating rink on Zhdanovskaya is a place of constant training for the famous hockey team. But mass skating is also held here. Unfortunately, the schedule entirely depends on the training time of the athletes, therefore it changes very often. But night skiing takes place here every Friday and Saturday. This complex, like Yubileiny, is located near the Sportivnaya metro station.

Rollers for mass skating

There is another popular indoor ice rink in the center. It is located in the Tauride Garden. This is a historical one, once there was an outdoor skating rink, famous throughout Leningrad. Now there is a large shopping and entertainment complex, including a skating rink with artificial ice. You can ride both day and night. Night skiing will cost more. There is a rental of figure skates, ice hockey and cross-country skates. This complex has its own advantage - it is focused mainly on mass skating, so the schedule depends less on the training of athletes.

One of the most popular skating rinks in the historical part of St. Petersburg appeared relatively recently. This is Modny Ice, located in the newly built Varshavsky Express entertainment center. The conditions have been created here for mass skating. You can come at any convenient time, the skating rink works almost around the clock. For visitors there are changing rooms, a rental point and skate sharpening. To get to the entertainment center, you need to get to the Baltiyskaya or Frunzenskaya metro stations.

Skating rinks in other areas

There are good skating rinks in other parts of the Northern capital as well. For example, in the north it is a skating rink in the Spartak sports complex near the Akademicheskaya metro station. Skating is carried out by sessions, since here, as in other sports complexes, athletes train.

In the northern part of St. Petersburg there is another popular skating rink - a complex at the Academy of Figure Skating. Of course, it is also designed primarily for athletes, but there are three excellent ice arenas, a wardrobe, rental and in general everything that a skating lover needs. At the box office - only figure skates.

But the "Grand Canyon Ice" on Prosveshcheniya Avenue is designed for mass skating, so you can go in at any time. In the southern part of the city, indoor skating rinks are popular in the Leto, Rio and Balkania Nova shopping and entertainment centers. The first one is located on Pulkovskoe highway, you can get there directly from the airport. The Rio skating rink is located in the Frunzensky district, and the Balkania Nova in Kupchino. In the eastern part of the city, the most famous skating rink is located in the Babushkin Park. Prices and range of services are about the same everywhere.
