In recent years, New Year cruises to Prague have become very popular due to their relatively cheap prices. But not only because of this: such a variety of options for celebrating the New Year can hardly be found anywhere else.
Decide when you want to go - before Christmas or after? The pre-holiday bustle in Prague begins in early December - houses even on the most remote streets are decorated with bright garlands and Christmas trees, mulled wine and fried chestnuts are served right on the squares, New Year's souvenirs are sold everywhere, and everything is decorated for Christmas in churches. By the night of December 24, life in the city comes to a standstill, cafes and shops are closed, even transport hardly runs - everyone begins to celebrate Christmas. Therefore, it is better to decide right away - to come either before Christmas or a day later.
Now you need to take care of accommodation, visa and tickets. With the latter, everything is clear, but it is better to choose housing in advance. And not necessarily a hotel - it can be a private apartment, which will cost much less. And about where to go on New Year's in Prague, you can think on the spot.
Getting ready to celebrate
They say that the best thing about any holiday is its anticipation. To make the waiting interesting, it is better to fill it with interesting events. One of the most spectacular in this series is a night excursion along the Vltava River. You swim to yourself and admire Prague, luxurious and magnificent, shining with multi-colored lights. Another great excursion is a hike to the local TV tower, from where you can see the stunning landscapes of the majestic city and take unique photographs.
New Year in Prague
And now comes the last day of December, when you need to decide where to meet the first moment of the coming year:
- The craziest option is Old Town Square, where a huge crowd of tourists dance, drink, hug and shout in different languages starting at midnight. This is a paradise for extroverts! True, this orgy can be admired from the side, having reserved a table in a cafe with windows overlooking the square. Like and together with everyone, and at the same time, warm and safe. Although, as a rule, there are no serious accidents on New Year's Eve.
- A calmer atmosphere reigns on Wenceslas Square, where there are fewer people, it is quieter and the music is quieter.
- According to old Czech beliefs, it is simply sacrilege not to approach the statue of Jan Nepomnutsky on New Year's Eve. Therefore, it is worth going to the Charles Bridge and touching the statue in order to make a cherished wish. Who knows what might happen? After all, a wish is made on a fabulous night in a fabulous city..
- Festive fireworks are a separate topic. For half an hour you can admire the scattering of colorful fireworks of magnificent fireworks on the Charles Bridge on January 1. And the bridge itself is a real decoration of the city, it is also worth seeing.
- New Year's Eve in Prague cannot be complete without a trip to Karlovy Vary, where the famous healing springs are. It is very beautiful here, the water gives new energy, and you can also buy Czech crystal cheaply.
- An ordinary walk through the ancient city will bring no less pleasure than a noisy celebration. An atmosphere of love and warmth reigns around, lights, decorations and music are all around! Take a walk along these streets and you will want to come back for more.
Of course, this is just an approximate program of the New Year in Prague, there are many more interesting things. It remains only to decide: go, do not go.
