Suddenly your kid asks in surprise: "What is New Year?" And parents at some point get lost, because this is such a simple and well-known concept that no one thought how to explain it.

Step 1
Before explaining to your child what the New Year is, study various historical information about the celebration of the New Year in Russia, about the origins of this holiday.
Step 2
Form two visions of this holiday in the child. Let, on the one hand, he perceive the New Year as an amazing and mysterious magical sacrament. On the other hand, the baby, under your strict guidance, must remember the calendar boundaries of the year, the number of months and other necessary information. Start learning these data in a playful way exactly in the pre-holiday period, and the child, showing interest in the upcoming New Year, will learn everything much faster.
Step 3
Introduce your child to the calendar. Choose a large, colorful, visual calendar, explain to your baby that one year consists of twelve months. When the last month of December ends, then the whole year ends. Then the New Year comes and everything repeats itself. And on the night of December 31 to January 1, people arrange a noisy holiday, give each other gifts and have fun.
Step 4
In the process of your story, the child will inevitably have a variety of questions. Do not ignore them, but formulate your answer according to his level of perception, translating complex concepts into simpler analogs that are known to the baby.

After visual explanations, take a doll-glove of some New Year's character (it is better if it is Santa Claus) and smoothly move on to the fairy tale about the New Year: "And on the night when the old year leaves, and the New comes, amazing miracles happen." Change your voice a little, call on your acting skills and read the story with the greatest possible expression. Take "New Year's Tale about Little Grandfather Frost" by A. Fedoseeva, "New Year's Tale" by V. Dudintsev or any other.
Step 6
Check if the child understood your story well, if he understood everything. Ask someone close to the child to ask what he knows about the New Year. In the course of this story, it will become clear to you that the child remembered what he did not pay attention to, and what he confused. After analyzing what you have heard, re-explain to the baby all the unclear points.
