Instructions

Step 1

In Uzbekistan, just like in Russia, the New Year is celebrated twice: on January 1 in the European style, and on March 21 - the second time, this day means that nature has moved away from sleep and it is time to start agricultural work. The choice of this date was dictated by the natural conditions of the state. This holiday in Uzbekistan is called Navruz and has been celebrated for many centuries in a row, but only at the beginning of the 2000s, the holiday became an official day off.

Step 2

Navruz is celebrated only in the afternoon, always surrounded by family, and it is customary to visit for the 30 days that follow March 21, that is, we can say that the festivities continue for a month.

Step 3

There is a belief that as you spend the thirteenth day of Navruz, the whole year will pass. That is why Uzbeks on this day try not to swear, forgive offenses and not ask for advice. And the guest who is the first to cross the threshold of the house on this day, ideally, should be meek, calm, witty, so that the next year is as good as the guest himself.

Step 4

During the celebration, traditional Uzbek dishes are served on the table - shurpa, pilaf, pies with spring herbs. And it is not at all traditional for, perhaps, all countries in the world, except for Uzbekistan, watermelon. And the redder and sweeter it is, the more successful the year will be for the owners of the house. If the guests are full, then the year promises to be fruitful and joyful.

Step 5

As for the celebration of the secular New Year, which is celebrated on January 1, then the traditions here are similar to many peoples. As in any country, there is Santa Claus in Uzbekistan, although his names are Korbobo and Snegurochka Korkiz. Their team is driven not by deer or horses, but by donkeys. Due to climatic conditions, snow is rare in this Asian country. But, despite this, there are decorated Christmas trees in the windows and in the squares and Happy New Year posters are visible everywhere.

Step 6

Festivities, contests, dances and gifts are mandatory attributes of the holiday. There are two more features when celebrating the New Year:

- while the chimes are striking, you need to eat 12 grapes, according to the number of months in a year, and then your cherished wish next year will come true;

- if you break and throw away the chipped plates the day before, then everything bad that was in the old year will not go into the new one.

Step 7

In Uzbekistan, it is forbidden to blow up firecrackers and any other pyrotechnics, which can be taken as an example for Russia. However, wherever it happens to celebrate the New Year, if close and dear people are nearby, the coming year will still be successful, bright and fruitful.
