The stone has long been used for interior decoration, building facades, and landscape design. It remains a popular material today, but thanks to the development of technology, natural stone gave way to artificial stone, which, however, has a significant drawback - a high cost in comparison with other finishing materials. In this regard, the inquisitive minds of folk craftsmen invented a method of inexpensive "home" production.

Step 1
When thinking about how to make an artificial stone, decide for what purpose you would like to use it. If you need a small rock to use for landscaping, you can use leftover building materials, broken stone, bricks, etc.
Step 2
Shape the mountain to the desired size and shape as desired.
Step 3
Prepare the grout and pour the resulting mold.
Step 4
Pour subsequent layers of grout to complete the shape of your stone.
Step 5
Special molds for the casting of artificial stone are sold in the construction markets. They are of two types: plastic and polymer.
Polymeric forms are preferred for several reasons. Firstly, plastic ones do not allow achieving the effect of a natural stone surface, it turns out to be too smooth and shiny. The appearance of the artificial stone, cast in a polymer form, practically does not differ from the natural one. Secondly, polymer is much more durable. Thirdly, it is more convenient to remove the finished artificial stone from the polymer mold due to the flexibility of the polyurethane from which it is made.
Step 6
Artificial stone for interior work can be made from gypsum or cement mixture.
For interior finishing work, use a gypsum-based mixture, it is cheaper, easier to work with and the weight of the stone will be relatively small.
For facade work, a cement mixture is preferable, it is more durable and less susceptible to damage.
