The European tradition of catching a happy bride's bouquet at a wedding is gaining more and more popularity in Russia. It is not surprising, because it is believed that the lucky woman who catches an elegant flower decoration will get married within a year.
Not everything is so simple with the bride's bouquet
This sign can be attributed to the mystical. As often happens, people are very well aware of only a fragment of the established ritual, while the actions that need to be taken before and after catching the bouquet are not known to anyone. This is what explains the "idle, non-working" bouquets.
In order to catch the bouquet correctly and not jinx your luck, you need to prepare for the ceremony. When the bride announces that she is ready to throw the bouquet, all unmarried and adult participants line up behind her. In no case should the bride turn around and look at her friends, and even less should she “aim”. She just needs to inform them that the bouquet will be thrown, for example, on the count of three.
For the bouquet to "work", during the throw, the girls should not move and rush forward in order to catch the flowers, "securing" their marriage. The bouquet itself should fall into the hands of someone who will soon be lucky to meet a loved one or receive a marriage proposal from an existing one. It is at the moment of the throw that a kind of revelation takes place, the bouquet should not be prevented from “jumping” into the hands of the desired girl.
Sometimes it happens that no one gets the bouquet. If at the same time the girls present did not try to snatch the flowers from each other, having arranged a real fight, most likely this means that none of those present will get married within a year.
In Britain, a large part of the amount of traditional bouquets of pansies and forget-me-nots.
What to do with the loot?
But if the bouquet still came to you, you need to make several manipulations to "strengthen the success." In the early days, you can simply put the bouquet in water, when the flowers begin to die, make a dry bouquet out of them and put them in a vase without water. Of course, a dried bouquet will not look as attractive as a fresh one, so it can be placed anywhere. It is advisable, however, not to drop it.
You can throw away a happy bouquet only the day before your own wedding. After all, if you did everything right, did not try to take away the bouquet from other girls, you will definitely get married within a year after receiving such a good and weighty news.
The first brides bouquets were made of orange color.
Modern bouquets are often made using plastic portaulettes that are filled with water. Getting hit on the head with such a work of art is not pleasant. Therefore, at many weddings, the bride throws not her real bouquet, but a fake and light one, which avoids injuries among unmarried guests. Fake bouquets are made from both real and artificial flowers. They are specially reinforced so that they do not fall apart in the air during the throw. In addition, such bouquets are much easier to store until the next weddings they portend.
