All Saints Day is an ancient Catholic holiday on which Christians commemorated their departed righteous. By chance, having come to Europe, this holiday coincided in time with Samhain - on the night of October 31 to November 1, when, according to Celtic pagan beliefs, the living could speak with the souls of the dead. As a result of the mixing of two religious holidays, one very secular one turned out. Today it is better known as Halloween. It is celebrated all over the world, regardless of church affiliation. Halloween is a holiday and scary and fun, but in order to have fun on it, you need to know the traditions and be able to follow them.

Instructions

Step 1

All Saints' Day, or Halloween, is not complete without a carved pumpkin called Jack Lantern. The name was given to the pumpkin in honor of the guy who entered into a deal with the devil, deceived him, after which he did not go to hell or heaven. So he wanders around the world, illuminating his path with a piece of burning coal, enclosed in a pumpkin. To celebrate the holiday with your very own Jack Lantern, take a large pumpkin, carve the flesh out of it, and cut into the triangles for the eyes and toothy mouth. Insert a lighted candle inside the pumpkin.

Step 2

Household Halloween parties generally follow the same scenario. First, the apartment is decorated with all kinds of decorative evil spirits like spider webs or severed human hands from the store of jokes and practical jokes. As a rule, Halloween-themed products appear in many interior stores by the end of October: all kinds of pumpkins, witch figurines, masks, costumes, and so on. Then the guests in the dark, by the light of Jack-lantern, watch horror films. In America and Europe, it is customary to walk the streets and scare neighbors, but in Russia this tradition has not yet taken root.

Step 3

On All Saints' Day, or rather, at night, almost every entertainment establishment holds a themed party. It is better to come to it in a suit that you can buy, or you can make yourself. For example, the "corpse bride" outfit is popular among girls. A wedding dress is put on, and makeup in the style of a drowned woman is drawn on her face. Guys usually paint their faces like vampires and ghouls, or depict huge bloody scars on their bodies.
