In 2016, the residents of Russia have already been presented with an official calendar of holidays. There are no special surprises to be expected, but many citizens have already agreed that weekends are more conveniently located than last year.
How we rest in 2016 in January, February and March
The coming 2016 began with the traditional New Year holidays, which lasted from January 1 to 10. Despite the opinion of certain representatives of the authorities and the population that these holidays should be shortened, the majority are still glad that there are still plenty of days off in January. The decision regarding how we rest in 2016 in February became quite interesting: in recent years, the Day of Defender of the Fatherland in the calendar was usually postponed to May or subsequent holidays, and February consisted exclusively of ordinary weekdays. This time, February 23, 2016 is a day off, and since it is Tuesday, the authorities decided to make Monday the 22nd day off as well, but with the necessary proviso. Saturday, 20th, is a shortened working day.
In March of this year, Russian residents will have a traditional mini-vacation associated with the celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, and this time they will be slightly longer. The reason for this is again because March 8 is Tuesday. The government decided not to skimp, and made Monday, March 7, also a day off. Unlike February, the preceding days, March 5 and 6, will be completely days off. On Friday, March 4, it is recommended to spend a full time, however, many managers traditionally can make it short and hold a general corporate party.
How we rest in 2016 in May, June, November
April remains without holidays: this month, citizens are rejoicing in the spring that has already fully arrived in most regions and are looking forward to May, which is the second in terms of the number of holidays on the calendar. In May 2016 we rest on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd numbers. Thus, together with Saturday, April 30, citizens will have four days off in a row. The next beloved holiday Victory Day is May 9. It's Monday, so there are no surprises here. Either way, if an official holiday follows a regular weekend, it's always convenient.
On June 13, the whole country will rest in honor of the Day of Russia, the official date of which is the 12th. The festive day will be on Monday, which once again surprises with the convenience of the location in 2016 of the weekend one after another. For example, having a day off during the working week would be very inconvenient for many, as well as postponing it to the following months. After that, a long period without holidays begins from July to November, however, most citizens will have holidays, school and student holidays during it, so there is no need to grieve much.
National Unity Day in November 2016 falls on Friday 4th November. This time, immediately after the holiday, there are Saturday and Sunday weekends. Thursday, November 3, the government obliges to make the working day shorter. Thus, people will have enough time to rest and gain strength in a rainy autumn. After that, you can safely expect the New Year 2017, especially since December 31 is Saturday.
