Some carnival costumes involve a beard, which is not always available on sale. In this case, the problem arises of independently making this mandatory attribute for such characters, for example, Santa Claus, Gnome, Karabas Barabas.
It is necessary
- - cotton wool;
- - a flap of fabric;
- - wig;
- - clothesline;
- - cotton wool;
- - tape.
Instructions
Step 1
Cotton wool beard Generally, cotton wool is packaged in a “roll” that can be rolled out quite easily. Spread the resulting cotton swab on a flat surface. Make a paper beard pattern of the desired size in the shape of a rounded cone. Transfer it to the fabric, cut and overcast the edges on the machine (you do not need to process). Choose the shade of the material based on the color of the beard (that is, if the product is white, then the base should be the same). Then put the fabric pattern on a wadded cloth, pin along the perimeter and carefully cut, taking into account the allowances on each side of 2-5 cm. Fold 2 patterns (wadded and fabric) and from the seamy side with a needle and thread, manually sweep them together with blind stitches. Sew an elastic band on the sides in the form of loops that are put on the ears. To make the beard "curly" look, make locks. For each "curly girl" on the finished beard, insert a thin sharp stick about a third deep into the cotton layer, carefully pull out the strand and twist its edge with your fingers. Make such strands over the entire area of the beard, then to fix the "curls", sprinkle the entire attribute with hairspray (you can use it with shine).
Step 2
Wig Beard It is good if you have a matching wig, from which you can make a beard. First, make a pattern of the right size on paper, taking into account the characteristics of the beard of different characters. To do this, select a number of pictures that you can navigate by while working. For a gnome, it is enough to make a small beard, but for Santa Claus it is usually quite long and, for convenience, is sewn together with a mustache, between which you need a slit for the mouth. Make two patterns, one from a fabric base and the other from a wig, and sew them together. Wrap the edges so that the fibers do not shed.
Step 3
Rope beard A regular clothesline is suitable for making. Take a tape up to 1 cm wide, fasten the end of the rope to the edge. Fold it in the form of continuous loops 5-10 cm long (depending on the desired length of beard pile) and sew immediately on the machine (or manually). You will get a "braid" consisting of rope loops. Cut the bottom edges of the loops and loosen the pieces of rope. The result is a wavy fiber. Comb it and trim the entire length. Make a fabric pattern for the beard and, starting from the bottom, sew the braid on it at a distance of 2 cm. Align the edges of the beard around the entire perimeter. If necessary, sweep them neatly.
